\u00abA veces siento como si el mundo fuera un lugar para el que he comprado una entrada. Es un gran espect\u00e1culo para m\u00ed, como si no fuese a suceder si yo no estuviera all\u00ed con una c\u00e1mara.\u201d<\/em> Garry Winogrand<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garry Winogrand (1928-1984), es considerado uno de los pioneros de la fotograf\u00eda callejera. Reconocido junto a Diane Arbus y Lee Friedlander como una de las figuras fundamentales en la renovaci\u00f3n de la fotograf\u00eda documental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aseguraba que la fotograf\u00eda era aquello que le permit\u00eda olvidar temporalmente la ira, la inquietud y la confusi\u00f3n en la que estaba instalado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winogrand recorr\u00eda las calles de Nueva York con su Leica M4 y un gran angular preenfocado, disparaba fotos sin parar, a veces sin mirar por el visor, consiguiendo im\u00e1genes con un horizonte inclinado. Sal\u00eda cada d\u00eda de casa y recorr\u00eda calles, carreteras, moteles, ferias, parques de atracciones y zool\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Persigui\u00f3 la autenticidad y la sinceridad. Sus fotos expresan a la vez el encanto y el desencanto, la extra\u00f1eza y la alegr\u00eda, la velocidad y el movimiento y consiguen capturar el esp\u00edritu de toda una generaci\u00f3n, la norteamericana de la d\u00e9cada de los 50, 60 y 70.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1964 obtuvo su primera Beca Guggenheim, lo que le permiti\u00f3 viajar por Estados Unidos en coche, para captar la esencia del paisaje americano. Puso rumbo a California en el que se convirti\u00f3 en el a\u00f1o m\u00e1s fecundo de su carrera. Seg\u00fan sus propias palabras, fotografiaba para \u00abaveriguar qui\u00e9nes somos, c\u00f3mo nos sentimos\u00bb. Muchas de estas fotos est\u00e1n hechas desde su coche, utilizando las ventanillas o el parabrisas como marco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aunque sus fotograf\u00edas m\u00e1s populares son en blanco y negro, desde principios de los a\u00f1os cincuenta, empez\u00f3 a trabajar tambi\u00e9n en color utilizando diapositivas Kodakchrome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muri\u00f3 dejando m\u00e1s de 400.000 fotograf\u00edas sin editar, muchas de las cuales ni siquiera hab\u00eda mirado. Adem\u00e1s tambi\u00e9n dej\u00f3 2500 rollos de pel\u00edcula sin revelar. Muchas de esas fotograf\u00edas se recogieron en el libro \u00abFigments from de real world\u00bb y posteriormente, en 1988, en una exposici\u00f3n en el museo de arte moderno de Nueva York (MoMa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
